ToT: Tourism Of Things

The aim of the ToT project is to apply the concept of Smart City to the tourism sector, something completely new. The objective is the application of a wide range of services for both tourism professionals (destination management bodies and tourism companies) and tourists themselves. In short, ToT is positioned as the groundwork for tourist destination service infrastructure of the future. Implementation of the project will provide opportunities for the creation of new companies which can then use the ToT infrastructure to develop new services based on the intensive use of data and the infrastructure provided by the smart destinations themselves.

Development of new context-aware services for wearable and mobile technologies. The aim of the project was to implement a cloud platform in order to manage large amount of data coming from mobile devices and provide mobile users with information and services according to their context.

The aim of SMARTUR is to move forward in the study of mobility as a social and technological phenomenon. In line with work carried out in previous projects, this project will coordinate and supplement technological research focused on three areas: Destinations, territory and mobility, identifying main destinations in the Basque Country; Smart Destinations, strengthening the relationship between visitor and destination; Data economy in tourism, studying ways to manage and make more efficient use of data.

Analysis of the the transforming impact of the internet on tourism, particularly with regard to technology and mobility. eTourgune2 unites efforts to create a space for research in eTourism, with direct economic impact on the activities of stakeholders in the development of the Basque tourism sector. The project also expands on the complex interrelations needed to make products and services available, and on the social impact of the new mobility patterns that have profoundly changed the value chains of the different tourism subsectors.
